All Casström knives are cryogenically treated. Cryogenic hardening is a treatment process where the steel is cooled to very low temperatures using liquid nitrogen. This improves the performance of the steel at a molecular level and, in practice, gives the blade greater resistance to wear and makes it less prone to chipping compared to a blade of the same hardness that has not been cryogenically hardened.
