Description:
Stainless ELMAX steel is a top-tier knife steel for the advanced knifemaker, produced by Böhler Uddeholm. Commonly used in Scandinavian knives/bushcraft knives and a variety of folding knives.
Hardened, for example, at 1050 degrees and tempered at 220. It can also be tempered at a higher temperature, see graph below.
Extra hardness points can be achieved by hardening around 1080 and subsequent cooling to at least -70, using a dry ice mixture or liquid nitrogen.
