Description:
Kydex Suede is a unique material that combines the well-known strength of Kydex with an adhered suede surface. The result is a material that both looks exclusive and provides more possibilities when building your own knife sheaths. You can choose whether the suede side should face out for an exclusive look, or in to provide extra protection against scratches on the knife blade.
The material consists of a smooth Kydex side and a suede side. Kydex is a thermoplastic that can be heated and molded repeatedly without losing its properties. When heated to approximately 150–200 °C, the sheet becomes soft and can be pressed around the knife to create a tight and secure fit. When the material cools down, it retains its shape and provides good retention.
Kydex Suede is particularly popular among knife makers who want to create premium sheaths with a more exclusive touch than traditional Kydex. The material is well-suited for bushcraft knives, hunting knives, EDC knives, and special projects where both function and appearance are important.
The sheet withstands moisture, hard use, and large temperature fluctuations, while at the same time it can be cut, drilled, sanded, sewn, glued, and assembled with eyelets and mounting systems in the same way as regular Kydex.
