Description:
Lawood laminated and dyed handle block material is a modern and exciting material that combines the natural properties of wood with a unique, layered design. The block is built up of thin layers of dyed wood that are laminated together, providing a characteristic pattern and high strength.
The many layers, often around 1 mm thick, create a dynamic expression where the colors play against each other. When the material is shaped and sanded, the pattern emerges even more clearly, resulting in a vibrant and distinctive finish in the final handle.
The material has excellent mechanical properties and provides a solid and durable handle. At the same time, it retains the feel and workability of regular wood, making it easy to work with for both beginners and experienced knifemakers.
Lawood can be shaped, sanded, and polished in the same way as traditional wood types, providing a smooth and fine finish. The laminated layers also offer a good grip and a comfortable feel in the hand.
The material is supplied as a slab (approx. 10x40x120 mm) and is well-suited for handle scales or smaller knife projects. Please note that the product images often show finished, sanded examples to highlight the pattern, while the block you receive is unsanded and ready for processing.
Since the material is industrially produced, you get a more predictable result than with natural materials, while each color combination provides its own unique expression.
