Micarta Matrix sets are a modern handle material that combines high durability with a vibrant and textured pattern. The slabs are made of micarta, where textile is layered and pressed together with resin under high pressure, resulting in a dense and homogeneous material.
What characterizes the Matrix variant is the way the layers are built up. The structure provides a more organic and "network"-like pattern, where depth and contrasts become clearer after processing. This provides an exciting visual expression that distinguishes it from more traditional micarta variants.
Micarta is known for its excellent technical properties. The material is robust, impact-resistant, and moisture-resistant, making it very well suited for knife handles and other projects where durability is important.
The compact structure provides a stable surface that does not require post-treatment such as oil or wax. At the same time, the material provides a smooth and reliable finish that holds up well over time, even with demanding use.
The material is easy to work with and can be sawed, milled, sanded, and polished to the desired finish. During processing, the layers in the material will become more visible, which gives extra depth and character to the finished result.
Since the pattern is formed through layered construction, small variations will occur. This gives each piece a unique touch, while the quality remains consistent and predictable.
