This is Arne, also known as O1 steel, produced by Böhler Uddeholm, a steel widely used in knife making in the USA which is characterized by a simple hardening process and a solid result with knife user friendliness.

Example of hardening procedure:
Heat until it is not magnetic and cool in e.g. rapeseed oil. O1 can advantageously also be kept at temperature for 10+ minutes for extra good results.

We recommend everyone to experiment with hardening new steels to get to know it.
