Kydex Suede is a special material developed for knife makers who want the best of both worlds. On one hand, you get the well-known strength, dimensional stability, and durability of Kydex. On the other, you get a soft suede surface that gives the sheath an exclusive feel.
The suede side can be used either as the exterior for a more elegant look or as the interior to reduce the risk of scratching the knife blade. This makes the material particularly popular for premium sheaths for hunting knives, bushcraft knives, and custom-made knives.
The material is shaped in the same way as regular Kydex by heating. When the sheet is heated, it becomes flexible and can be pressed around the knife to achieve a precise fit. Upon cooling, the material retains its shape and provides secure retention.
Kydex Suede withstands moisture, temperature changes, and heavy use while providing a more exclusive result than traditional Kydex. The material can be cut, drilled, sanded, and assembled with eyelets and hardware in the same way as other Kydex sheets.
