Ready hardened knife steel for making knives 80CrV2
Tax included.
Do you want to make your own knife blade according to your own design but don't have the opportunity to harden the knife steel? Here's the solution!
Finished hardened knife blade blank, ready for design and sharpening
This steel is already hardened, tempered and ready, so all you need to do is shape it the way you want by grinding it with a belt grinder, angle grinder or similar.
But won't the curing be destroyed?
No, what you have to make sure is that critical parts of the knife, like the blade, do not get hotter than about 200 degrees. You do this by not sharpening too much too quickly and by dipping the steel in water between sharpening rounds to cool it down. When steel gets hot it changes color, so you know when it has gotten too hot. At about 200 degrees the steel becomes golden yellow/straw colored, then the effect of the hardening is reduced or destroyed, if the temperature gets higher the color becomes browner, then purple and if the temperature goes up further the steel turns blue.
The steel piece is 3.25x50x280mm
