In some of the pictures, the shaft blanks have been sprayed with oil to show the effect of the finish, but the blanks will naturally look much nicer with proper preparation before finishing with, for example, Danish oil, boiled linseed oil and other wood finishes. We recommend testing several to find the one you like best, but Danish oil is often a safe choice.
