Sheets/plates of vulcanized fiber, which is a cellulose-based composite that has many uses outside the knifemaking world, but is most often used by us between handle materials or between the material and the steel to provide color and stripes in the handle.
Can be layered if you want thicker sizes than available.
Some of the plates have a little yellow/brown on the edges. This is because the plates are laser cut, but it is only on the surface and it disappears as soon as you start sanding them.
The boards marked with a white core have white in the middle, meaning that the color is only on the surface and that in the finished shaft there will be thin colored stripes on the sides and white in the middle.
